Founded in 1912, Donner is one of the largest and most storied bookstores in the Netherlands, famously saved from the 2014 bankruptcy of the Polare chain by an employee-led crowdfunding campaign. The store occupies the historic former ABN AMRO bank building on Coolsingel and offers an expansive multi-floor collection including a music department and an in-house cafe.
