Giant Robot Store, established in 2001 on Sawtelle Blvd in West LA's Sawtelle Japantown, grew out of Giant Robot Magazine and is frequently cited as a birthplace of Asian pop culture retail in the U.S. It stocks housewares, gifts, stationery, T-shirts, comics, plush and toy figures sourced from around the world. Its companion space GR2 Gallery, a block away, mounts exhibitions by artists such as Katsuya Terada, Luke Chueh, David Choe and Mari Inukai.
