Most of Eugene's independent bookstores are downtown, within walking distance of each other around Willamette Street, Broadway and the 5th Street Market. Two of them have sold new and used books since the mid-1970s. The rest are south of downtown, including Tsunami Books, a worker-owned shop on Willamette Street that has hosted readings, concerts and workshops since 1995.
